Random Friday: July in Review

(My quest for a picture with all 3 kiddos smiling at the camera and eyes open is still ongoing)

Nothing like a late post sharing my reading success (or lack thereof) in July. Somehow August is here and we are almost halfway thru and I'm just now writing this post. Time....where did it go?? I had a pretty average month in July as I finished five books. Not my best and certainly not my worst. I feel like I should be reading more but it just isn't happening. And it won't be getting any better as this month is filled with preparing for the oldest to go back to school and my daughter beginning preschool. How is this happening? I'm not sure that I'm ready but I know that she is. Here is what I read last month:

1. Vanished In the Night by Eileen Carr- A solid mystery that kept me guessing.

2. Demons Prefer Blondes by Sidney Ayers- A so-so paranormal romance that could have been better. We'll have to see what happens next as it is the beginning of a series.

3. Grave Witch by Kalayna Price- An amazing beginning to this series. I couldn't put it down!

4. Phoenix Rising by Pip Ballantine & Tee Morris- Such a fun read that I absolutely loved!

5. Justice by Karen Robards- Romantic suspense that kept me turning the pages.

Looking over these books I enjoyed them for the most part other than Demons Prefer Blondes which ended up just being okay for me. These were all new to me authors and I'm looking forward to reading more by them. I still have a TON of books checked out from the library, sitting on my shelves, waiting for review, etc. I need August to be a great month of reading with all of these books but alas, it is only looking to be only about average right now. One of these days I'll catch up...

  1. Loving that photo big time. I can't believe how fast time flies. My oldest will be getting married in 3 short weeks and my youngest will be a Junior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep those photos coming and enjoy those cuties of yours!! There will be plenty of time for reading when they're teens and think that moms are uncool!! :D

  3. awwwww....sweet photo!!
You did great for July. I never seem to be able to catch up on my reading. And of course, now that September is on the way, I'll be in the mood for mysteries and scary books. So that means I'll add even more to my TBR pile.

Hope August is a good reading month for you. It's been kind of slow going for me but oh well.

  6. My mother had the same problem when we were kids. Even professional photos my eyes are closed... Nowadays we all avoid the camera, so I think she has given up. :)

  9. I love the photo Sam - seeing your little ones always makes me smile.

You did great in reading considering all you have to take care of otherwise. I haven't been getting much more read and I just have a dog. Lol. I've been really lacking in doing updates on my reading every month. I now have to catch up from January.

Wow, your daughter is already going into preschool. I can't believe how fast the time is going either.

  10. Staci- Time does fly...I look at my oldest and keep trying to figure out how he could possibly be going into 3rd grade...crazy!

Lisa- We were at the zoo for the 1st time this year when I took that picture. I'm not sure if he was laughing at the time but it sure looks like he was :)

Naida- I can't catch up whatsoever. I have so many books stacked up in my bedroom that it is almost overwhelming. And yet books just keep coming into the house. And it still doesn't stop me from adding to the TBR pile. LOL!

Iliana- August started off slow but I have a feeling that it is going to turn into an average 5 books as usual. I'm kind of predictable that way :)

    Stephanie- Thank you!!!!

Kailana- With 3 little ones it is almost impossible to get them all to look at the camera at the same time..it has turned into a project for me. Ha ha!

Fiction State of Mind- It is hard at times for me to read but I try to always read at night when the kiddos sleep. It relaxes me.

    Thank you Suko!!!

Darlene- I can't believe that she is going into preschool either. She is excited though which is fun.
