Happy Sunday everyone! Fall weather has hit here and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I'm actually typing this up on Saturday afternoon with the windows open, a blanket covering me to keep the chill off, and the sound of rain which is the absolute icing on the cake. This is my absolute favorite time of the year for a reason. I am one of those rare birds that enjoys all four seasons (yes, even the snow and cold) but fall has always been my favorite.
I haven't finished a single book this week. I'm in the middle of four books currently which is absolutely unheard of for me. In reality that looks like me with bookmarks in three books and actually reading the fourth one on a continual basis. I always want to read all of the books, but lately I REALLY WANT TO READ ALL OF THE BOOKS! It's kind of affecting my focus because it just feels like I want to read everything and right this second. So basically that seems to have led to me starting multiple things and finishing none of them this week. I need to do better next week! When I get like this, I usually try to slow down reading which seems like the opposite of what one would want to do. But I don't want to race through books....so I'm really working on just enjoying that one book that I'm focusing on and then I can do the same thing with one of the other books I have currently going. That's the plan anyways!
I've also been very blessed this week with book mail thanks to publishers. I've gotten out of the habit of sharing about the books I receive for review on here but I would like to change that. I'm hoping that by sharing it will also keep me accountable to share my thoughts on these books after finishing. I can always use the gentle push especially when it comes to writing up my thoughts. With that being said, I'm planning on sharing my thoughts on at least two books this week (not in this pile) that I received for review but haven't yet shared my thoughts on. Maybe three if I'm feeling extra motivated (I'm woefully behind on reviews in general). Anyways, these books all hit my mailbox this week so hence one of the reasons why I'm feeling the need to read ALL of the books. Let's move on though to what I'm currently reading.
I currently have bookmarks in the following books:
The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller is the book I'm really actually reading. It is absolutely delightful! I'm just a little over halfway through this one (I'm reading it on my e-reader) and you guys I swear I'm reading it with a smile on my face half of the time. If you enjoyed A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn, then I really think that you will enjoy this one as well. I haven't seen this one much on bookstagram yet which is just a shame because it really is a delight so far!
Trace of Evil by Alice Blanchard is a print copy of a book that is due to release in December if I'm correct. The ONLY reason that I'm not reading this one right this second is because of the above book and it will be what I'm diving into exclusively next if I'm honest. I'm such a sucker for women detective fiction so this is kind of already my jam.
Death Masks by Jim Butcher should really need no explanation. I NEEDED some Harry Dresden in my life and purposefully read the first few pages so that it wouldn't end up going back to the library unread. It has been at least a year since I read the fourth book in this series so it is definitely time to dive back into Harry's world!
After the Flood by Kassandra Montag has been all over the bookstagram world lately so of course I requested it from the library. I probably wouldn't have started this one but another bookstagrammer was reading it and I decided to just add one more to the pile and read it with her. It's actually due back to the library soon though so if I can't renew I will just let it go back and get to it another time.
Whew! That's a lot. Plans for Sunday include laundry and reading. The Walking Dead returns this weekend which I'm pretty pumped about. We will be watching football and just basically being as lazy as possible while also preparing for the upcoming week. That's my plan anyways - we will see what actually happens!
Happy Sunday and Happy Reading!

Bookish Bliss (Or Recent Additions to My Shelves)
I really should work harder on not adding any books to my shelves but it is harder than you think sometimes! These are all of the newest print books that I've brought home in the past month or so. True fact: I have had these sitting in a pile in my bedroom just waiting to share about them with all of you. I should probably put them away now. LOL! Also, I didn't actually buy these all at once so that makes me feel a bit better. I should probably stay away from any store selling books for awhile but where would the fun be in that?? Here is what I bought:
- The Diviners by Libba Bray - I found this gem ridiculously cheap and so it came home with me as simple as that. Add in an absolutely gorgeous cover and the fact that this has been on my TBR list for awhile and you have a win in my book!
- Track the Cat by Nevada Barr- 1st in a new to me mystery series and a used bookstore find. One of the best things about used bookstores is that you can find the first books in ridiculously long series. I'm looking forward to reading this!
- A Place of Execution by Val McDermid- I actually bought this one awhile back. Twice. Obviously I really wanted to read it. Ha! So I gave one copy to my Mom and sister to read which they both highly recommended back to me. I'm planning on reading it soon.
- The Face of Deception by Iris Johansen- Back in my pre-blogging days I used to read this author's books and enjoyed them although I never seemed to read them in order. I decided to pick this one up at the used bookstore so that I could finally read the series in order.
- Touch Not the Cat by Mary Stewart- It is Mary Stewart. Enough said!
- The Deep by Nick Cutter- This was actually a Goodwill find. As it sounds perfect for this time of year I think that I've made a good decision. Also I have heard a ton of good things about this author's books!
- The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen- I've had this author on my TBR list for months. I couldn't resist when I found her books at the used bookstore. I didn't realize that there was a TV show based off of this series. I'm going to read them first then check it out!
- Girl Missing by Tess Gerritsen- This seems to be a standalone but it sounded so good so I ended up bringing it home with me as well! (This happens a lot when I am at the used bookstore and browsing)
- Kind of Cruel by Sophie Hannah- I bought this one at my local Barnes and Noble store. It was on the discount table and since this is Sophie Hannah I just brought it home with me. How could I not? She is one of those authors that I basically want to read all of her books even though I've only actually read one book by her.
I just realized that all of these would fit in with Carl's RIP challenge. How perfect is that? I would say that I won't buy any more books any time soon, but I'm sure that by this point you all know that isn't true. I just can't resist! What books have you brought into your home lately? Is there any book in this pile that you think I should read first? Do tell!

My Name is Sam, and I have a Book Addiction...
I have lots of thoughts this week about lots of different things. The blogging community in general has been a bit drama filled lately but as always my favorite bloggers are focusing more on the positive than the bad. It has been one of those countless times where I've reevaluated my goals and priorities as a blogger. A post for another time maybe? I really don't know as there are so many others that have said it better than I ever could. On the other hand I've been feeling completely inspired thanks to finding podcasts. What fun! I can listen while cleaning (yes I know others have figured this out long ago but I'm late as usual) and it makes it much more enjoyable. This should most likely be another post but I couldn't help mentioning how I excited I am about them. Recommendations are needed here though! Which podcasts are out there that shouldn't be missed??? Please share!
I woke up this morning ready to blog and with lots of different feelings on both of these possible posts but I just couldn't settle. I've decided to let them both simmer in my mind for now and instead finally share all of my lovely finds from my Valentine's trip to the used book store. I spent a lovely hour or so browsing my local used bookstore shelves and finding all kinds of gems that just HAD to come home with me.
- Play Dead by Harlan Coben - One of his older books. I've enjoyed every book that I've read by Coben so I'm sure this will be good.
- Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie - 3rd in the Duncan Kincaid series and one of my favorite mystery series that I found last year.
- The Missing by Jane Casey - This is a standalone and by an author that I have really enjoyed previously.
- Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates - 1st in a cozy mystery series. The cover made me bring this one home.
- Trust Me by Brenda Novak - 1st in a trilogy...I think? It sounds both creepy and tense so I had to have it!
- Scarlet Devices by Delphine Dryden - 2nd book in a steampunk series that I've been wanting to start. Gorgeous cover!
- Heart of Darkness by Lauren Dane - 1st in an urban fantasy series that was highly recommended to me by another blogger.
- Gossamer Wing by Delphine Dryden - 1st in the same steampunk series as Scarlet Devices. So pumped to read both of them!
- Death's Daughter by Amber Benson - I picked this one up as I just finished a different book by this author and wanted to try her other series out.
- Saint's Gate by Carla Neggers - Romantic suspense and one that I've grabbed from the library multiple times.
- Here I Stay by Barbara Michaels - I will basically always buy Michael's books whenever I find them. I feel the need to own them all....see the title of this post for an explanation as to why :)
- Fireborn by Keri Arthur - 1st in another new to me series. My bookish addictions know no bounds.
These two are thanks to the publishers and were both unsolicited review copies. Monday's Lie is a thriller so I definitely want to read it! The Master isn't my usual type of read but since I really, really enjoyed a different book by this author I will be reading it as well. At least I haven't brought in as many review copies as last time that I shared. That's a start, right?
It is official: I have TOO many books! No more bookstore trips until I start getting my shelves under control. I may have an addiction but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't work on it. Time to actually read all of these books that I can't seem to stop buying. I can stay out of my used bookstore but I don't know that I can stay away from the library for too long. I'm going to have to be realistic and keep mixing up my reading. Review copies, library copies, and books from my own shelves....I have more than enough to keep my busy for a very long time!
Tell me, what books have you added to your shelves recently? Do you have a book addiction like me?? Are your shelves ridiculously out of control? Or better yet: which of these books should I read first? Do share!

Bookish Goodness (Or Where I Finally Admit that I am a Book Hoarder)
So let me explain the title of this post in a way that makes me sound slightly rational. I hope. Maybe. The other day we were finishing up school supply shopping and afterwards I ran into my local Everything is a Dollar store. While I browsing the aisles letting my daughter pick a new coloring book for school, I came across their book section. Imagine my delight at finding Pastworld by Ian Beck just sitting there on the shelves. But then (OH MY GOODNESS) I saw The Poison Tree by Erin Kelly sitting there and I literally gasped in happiness. I have been wanting to read this book for so long (and hopefully the next R.I.P. challenge will be here soon) and this book would be just so perfect for it. But here is where it gets a little hairy. I (quite irrationally) wanted to buy all of the copies of The Poison Tree. Because it makes me sad that it is being sold for just one dollar when I am absolutely certain that it is a good book. Folks, this makes me a book hoarder extraordinaire! Because I was sitting there trying to rationalize why I needed six copies of the same book. I don't. Although I really should have bought one extra so that I could at least host a giveaway (and I have been berating myself for not thinking about that every since). Sigh. I should lead a book hoarders support group.
In other bookish goodness, I received a copy of One of Us by Tawni O'Dell thanks to the publisher. I have been wanting to read this one so I am super excited to add it to my shelves. And as if these three books weren't enough I added two more books to my ipad thanks to NetGalley and the publishers.
I couldn't resist these books based off of their titles alone! Every time I see these books I get one of the songs stuck in my head. I am looking forward to reading them and seeing if they are as fantastic as I hope that they will be. Now, I should really step away from NetGalley (and away from any store that sells books) and focus on reading lots of books for the Bout of Books read-a-thon.
Which of these books would you read first? Happy Monday everyone!
