February In Review 2012
This picture cracks me up for a number of reasons. One, it shows off my daughter's personality perfectly. I'm pretty sure that she could become an actress when she grows up. My oldest looks miserable (which he wasn't at the time) but it is still pretty funny. And my youngest has pink rain boots on. Yep, pink boots....his favorite :) This one is going in a frame!
February flew by for me this year. I managed to finish five books which isn't a great number but I was happy with it. I spent a lot of time this month on the computer bulking up my resume and putting in job applications. I've been at my current job for three years now but it is nearing the time where I move on. One of my goals for this year is to find the job that I plan on staying at (and hopefully retiring from). This meant a lack of reading time as I focus on other things. But that's okay because I did get some quality reading in there as well. And if I could stay off Twitter, I might be even more productive. But that can be a March goal :) Here is what I read in February:
Not a bad one in the bunch! My favorite read of the month would have to be Divergent by Veronica Roth. I actually loved all of them with the exception of Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover. That one was a good read for me but not great. All in all, another solid reading month in 2012 especially quality wise.
My goal for March is to read at least one book off of my own shelves. Last month I was able to read D is for Deadbeat off of my shelves (although now I'm planning on buying E is for Evidence which will be adding to my shelves. But you get the picture. LOL!). I would like to read two but let's be realistic. I would also like to read a chunkster of some sort. I meant to in February but it didn't happen so now it is a March goal. Personal goal wise, I'm working with my daughter on school stuff. My goal is to find a set time to work with her every day and to make that time fun for her while she is learning. I also need to carve out more reading time with all three kiddos. I'll keep you posted on how that goes :) Hope everyone has a wonderful month in March!

I love your goals for this month. Good luck with your job hunting. I hope you find a job that you would love for years to come.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you know this, but the Chunkster Reading Challenge is having an online book club meeting of 11/22/63. You're always welcome to join and read the book in any format!
Vasilly,
DeleteI really want to read 11/22/63 at some point but I haven't found the time yet. Maybe I'll be ready to tackle it AFTER I finish The Stand :)
I love that picture! Your youngest isn't going to be all that fond of you when he's older and you tell the story of his favorite pink boots and show the evidence. lol.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job hunt. You had some good books there. I want to read Divergent. I've heard tons of good things about it plus there's a sequel too.
Darlene, I know!!! I'm sure it will embarrass him but it is one of my favorites of the three of them. Just priceless...
DeleteThat is a great picture!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your job hunting and I hope you have a wonderful reading month!
Thanks! I'm still plugging away and applying to different things even if I'm not always focused on it :)
DeleteThey are too cute! Save those pics!
ReplyDeleteI've had quite some giggles showing my son a photo of him when he was 3 and decided to wear my heels around the house for a bit.
You had some good reads, I'm curious about An Affair With Mr. Kennedy.
Good luck with the job hunting!
Naida, I think that you would enjoy An Affair With Mr. Kennedy. I didn't realize it but it is the beginning to a series...the 2nd book is coming out later this year. I'm really looking forward to it!
DeleteHello, I'm new to your blog - just saw it today when I was reading Naida's post and the comments. You see I love most of Nora Roberts' books and find the J.D. Robb series particularly interesting and I lovvvve Roarke! I see you have some really interesting books - would like to read An Affair with Mr Kennedy and some of the others you mentioned! Hope you do get the job you will like and stay on ...
ReplyDeleteKat, welcome to my blog!! I'm a HUGE Nora Roberts/Robb fan! I can't get enough of Eve and Roarke either :) And I would definitely recommend An Affair with Mr. Kennedy if you get a chance to read it!
DeleteIt's these pictures that end up being the treasures, huh? Your daughter is just so adorable with that smile on her face. I'm pretty sure I had a pink snowsuit just like that when I was her age (when we lived in Toronto--no need for snowsuist in Dallas).
ReplyDeleteBetween you and Lisa raving about Divergent, I really need to add it to my list!
Trish- OMG! I didn't realize that you hadn't read Divergent yet. If you do then let me know. I really enjoyed it (and made my sister read it, she love it too!)
DeleteSuch a great photo! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job search! I should probably update my resume--just because. Hopefully I won't have to use a new one anytime soon but it never hurts to keep it updated. I think my old one is 15 years old.
I wish you luck with your goals for this month! Hopefully you will be able to find a good balance for everything.
Have a great week!
Literary Feline- It is always such a balance for me to find the time to read and blog. Some months it is easier and other months it feels like I get absolutely nothing done. Drives me crazy but there you have it :)
DeleteADORABLE photo of the kids! omgosh your daughter's smile and pose is just something! And the boys--their personalities are shining through too. Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had such a good reading month. I'm going to have to get my hands on Divergent, too. Everyone I trust seems to really love it.
I saw An Affair with Mr. Kennedy come in my library a few weeks ago. I read a so-so review of it, but you know.. I was STILL interested in reading the book after reading that review. It sounds like something I'd really enjoy.
Good luck with your goals for March and with your job search!
Christine- I hope you enjoy both Divergent and An Affair with Mr. Kennedy!! Both were really good but Divergent was just awesomeness!
DeleteI love that photo and yes, she would go perfectly with my actor teenager!! I think you still had a great month and you managed to make me add almost every book you reviewed!!
ReplyDeleteStaci- You can just look at that picture and see her personality clear as day! I love it. And I can't help but smile every time that I look at it :)
