The Sunday Salon - May 17th

How is May already half way over? Seriously, it feels like the month has just begun and yet it is already the 17th. I've been lax in posting this week for a multitude of reasons. We've had lots of rain and thunderstorms here which meant a temporary loss of internet connection which is never a good thing. Plus, t-ball has started which means games and practice and you get the picture. My house is a mess and my laundry piles are hideous but I've been reading :) LOL! Sometimes, reading is the only thing that keeps my sanity in the midst of the chaos...literally. Let me share a "fun" example and then I'll get back to the books. So you all know that my daughter is creeping towards two (I'm not ready but she seems to be) which can be trouble. And trouble can sometimes be her middle name :) She wakes up yesterday morning and is occupying herself while I am getting ready for work. Until I notice that she has spilled a glass of some liquid (I'm pretty sure it was kool-aid which I blame on her dad) all over my living room carpet. So I'm scrubbing the floor so it won't stain and as I am literally on my knees working on the first stain, she grabs my son's full glass of milk and dumps it on our dog. With a smile on that innocent little face. I could have cried but what could I do but dry off the dog and give her a bath AFTER I got home from work. And my son and I had a talk about leaving drinks in reach of where his sister can get her grubby mitts on them. Some start to my morning right? :)

But back to books: I'm currently in the midst of two books which is unusual for me. I'm working on The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner at work and Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer at home. I am not very far into The Last Queen but the start has been very promising. Eclipse is kinda meh for me...I am of course flying through it but I can't say I'm loving it or anything. We'll see how it goes. I've got a ton of good books waiting for to read them which is turning out to be a bit of a distraction. Does anyone else have this problem? I just look at my stacks and cannot decide what to is one of the reasons why I decided to try keeping a book at work. I just want to read them all and now! Not very reasonable but it is how I feel :) Anyways, hope everyone has a good Sunday and I'll be visiting soon!

  1. Eek, it's the 17th! How can that be??

And yes, I definitely have that problem too. There are so many books I want to be reading. I guess this is a better problem to have than the opposite, though :P

  2. My life if racing by and I can't seem to catch up!

I loved The Last Queen and hope you do too!

  3. LOL >> Kids not only say the darndest things, they do the darndest things too! Sorry your patience were tested :)

  4. I've had days like that too!! LOL. Kids are so unpredictable. Glad you found time to read!

  5. Hey Sam, cute story about the kids. Probably not so cute in the morning when you're trying to get to work though. Have a great Sunday.

  6. Time flies doesn't it? I've had to re-evaluate my library pile a few times and I'm still running out of time on some books that I wanted to read!! Bums me out.

Loved your little drink story. I miss that time when my boys were little!!!

  7. Oh my goodness!! I can just picture you down on your knees scrubbing and your daughter pouring the milk on the dog. Just think--in 20 years you'll have a good story to tell and a good laugh. :)

Hope you have a great week, Sam!

  8. Nymeth- I'm not sure but May is flying by! I finally settled into Eclipse and finished it which made choosing my next read a bit easier :)

Amy- I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed The Last Queen. I'm liking it so far but I'm not very far into it yet.

Diane- Isn't that the truth? She keeps me on my toes which isn't always a bad thing :)

Kara- I always find time to read even if it is late at night. It keeps me sane :P

Dar- Yeah, I found it funny (not so much at the time) which is why I decided to share.

Staci- It bums me out when I have to return a book that I REALLY wanted to read but I usually end up checking it out again in a couple of weeks :)

Trish- I'm sure it is something that I'll remember for awhile. My poor dog...

  9. I can't believe May is half over either. Where does the time go? It sounds like you've been especially busy. At least you've been able to make room for reading. That's what's really important, right? ;-)

I hope you enjoy your week!

  10. Literary Feline- I may not always find a lot of time to read but I do fit it in :) Have a good week as well!

  11. We've been having a bit of rain here as well but it hasn't knocked out the internet yet thankfully! I'm currently in the middle of two books too. The one I need to read just isn't capturing my attention very well...

  12. Ladytink- I ended up finishing both of them but it was really an attention thing. I was having trouble getting into any book which is why I had two going :)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate each and every one of them :)
