Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

There isn't much I can say about Twilight that hasn't already been said. The book begins with Bella moving to a little town and meeting Edward. She figures out that Edward is a vampire and falls in love with him. Talk about a brief summary but that gives you the main highlights without divulging too many details.
Now for my thoughts: I liked this book. It was a great beginning to this series and I'm glad that I picked it up. That being said I'm not going to rave about it because while I enjoyed it, it didn't blow me away or anything. Stephanie Meyer is a talented author for this being her first book and I'll definitely be picking up her other books. Edward and Bella's story captured me enough that I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I wanted to see them have a happy ever after...I had to force myself to put the book down at times to get things done around my house. The last portion of the book was suspenseful and had me turning the pages trying to see how it would all play out. It wasn't one of the best books I've ever read but it was enjoyable. All in all, a good read especially for a young adult novel and I will be picking up the next book to see how this story continues.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

On a side note: I'm WAY behind in reviews! It isn't looking good folks as I can't seem to stop reading which means I'm falling further and further behind. I have a couple of books that need to be reviewed so I may do some reviews out of order just to get them done. Plus, I have challenges to post about and other blog misc. Don't forget about my contest that is going on until Dec. 29. I hope everyone had a happy holidays and is looking forward to the new year. And thank you to everyone that stops by here and takes the time to comment. It really makes my day to hear from you guys :)

  1. Don't feel bad! I bet I'm farther behind than you! I really liked Twilight myself but I probably won't get around to reviewing it until May lol.

  2. Ladytink- LOL! Glad I'm not the only one that is behind. Seriously, this is the worst that it has been though. Maybe if I try posting one a day or something...who knows?

  3. If you haven't seen the movie, make sure you do before it leaves the theaters. I've already seen it twice and I am planning a third trip to see it with friends. Catherine Hardwicke did a really good job translating the novel to the screen. At least in my opinion.

On that note, you hadn't read this yet?! Although, I just picked it up this summer, so I was behind on the new fave too. I'm glad you enjoyed it. When you get to New Moon, make sure you have tissues nearby. I cried through 75% of it; it was that intensely emotionally awesome.

I would do one post a day. That way you don't get intimidated by how many you have to do and then they'll get done.

I'm with you on being behind though. While I'm not behind on my reviews (I have to write them before I get involved in another book), I'm behind on my reading. I've only read 2 books this month and one of them I had started in November! I'm so behind that I have way to many books in my TBR stack and they are making me not want to read. I need to get through this!

  4. I am really behind in my review writing too. I feel like I'll never get caught up at the rate I'm going.

I am glad you enjoyed Twilight. It sounds like we had similar impressions about the book. While not great, it was definitely hard to put down. :-)

  5. Jackie- I know, I know...I am so behind the times when it comes to reading Twilight :) I'm glad that I picked it up though and am looking forward to New Moon. I haven't seen the movie yet but would like to. Don't worry about how many books you've read this month...once the holidays pass you will get back on track. I go through reading slumps sometimes. Hope you had a great holiday!

  6. Literary Feline- I think we had very similar thoughts regarding this book. I read through your post regarding the rest of this series and am curious to see what I will think. I'm glad that I'm not the only one behind in reviews :)

  7. Once you get behind, it's so hard to catch up. I did a huge amount of mini reviews when that happened. It helped!

  8. JKaye- Mini reviews...now why didn't I think of that? LOL! I just might have to do that...then I wouldn't be behind for the new year :)

  13. My best friend has made me swear that I will read this book by the end of January. I said--but I have challenges and ARCs that I have to complete. She said--NO EXCUSES. I have to be honest--I'm dreading it, but seeing that you liked it so much is definitely encouraging.

I hate getting behind in reviews--I try try try to get them up the day I finish or at least in the next couple of days. Don't stress about it, though!! Blogging is supposed to be fun, right? Right?? :)

  14. Trish- LOL! Just don't go into Twilight expecting great literature. It is a fun ride and while I didn't love it as much as some did, I did enjoy it and will be reading the rest of the series.

  17. I liked Twilight better than the others; the last one, Breaking Dawn, was an absolute chore for mre to finish. Do you plan on reading all four? I wonder if you'll end up liking Twilight best, as I did.
