Saturday Miscellaneous

I've decided to erase all of the challenges I joined this year from my sidebar for a couple of reasons. One, I'm not close to finishing any more of them. My grand total was 1 completed challenge this year...LOL! Secondly, I was really bad at keeping track when some of them ended so I wasn't sure which ones were still ongoing and which challenges had already ended. Score one for Sam not being organized :) Even though I royally stink at challenges I'm already dying to sign up for more for next year. Aack! And here I thought that books were my addiction. I'm probably am going to join some more challenges and who knows...maybe I'll be more organized this time. Yeah right. Still I had fun this year and challenges were what got me blogging so I'm glad I did it anyways.
In other news, my 5 year old thought it would be a good idea draw a heart (for me) on his carpet with marker. I was thrilled. So I got to scrub his floor today which was fun, fun. At least my house is clean though.
I'm looking to change my background for my blog and have something cute. So all of you that have blogger and have figured out how to put up a cute background need to comment. How is this done? All blogger offers is plain backgrounds and I want something cutesy (I know that isn't a word but it is what I'm looking for).
In book-related news I'm in the middle of a review book called Murder on the Down Low. And I've recently finished Portrait In Death which was good of course. Enough outta me already ;)

  1. I do not know how to find cute new backgrounds! But everybody is doing it, it seems. Good for you for the sweep off of challenges! They look fun to join, but probably hard to complete.

  2. I have some non-bookblogger friends that have "cutsey" backgrounds, but sometimes they can be really distracting. I'm not sure how to change them--I hate my template but am afraid everything will be lost if I change it.

I had to laugh a little about the challenges, especially that you're ready to sign up for new ones already! :P I love challenges, but I think I'm going to take it slow next year. I am compulsive about finishing them, which means that sometimes they turn more into a chore. They are addicting huh? Do you have any in particular you are looking at for 09??

  3. Gotta love you when the 5 year old doesn't think you have enough to do. :)

If you want an easy challenge for next year, I have one for you. New authors. That's it. You have to read so many new authors. I'm hosting the challenge at LE.

  7. Carolyn Jean- Everybody is doing it, aren't they? We'll see if I can find something I like without screwing up my whole blog.

Trish- You bet I'm scoping out some new challenges. Too many to say the least as I was really bad about them this year. I just like making the lists and didn't really care if I finished or not so they never became a chore for me. I can definitely understand how they might feel like one though.

  9. I've been tempted to take down my TBR Challenge list since I know I won't be finishing it this year, but I kind of want to keep the list up because I hope to get to the books next year. Wishful thinking? Probably.

There are some great templates out there for blogger that individuals have put together. Maybe you can do a google search for blogger templates and find something that way. There are free ones as well as one's that cost money--so watch for that as you search.

  10. I'm doing really bad with completing my challenges this year. Not sure I even will. I've signed on for a few in the New Year so we'll see if I do a better job next year.

  12. Literary Feline- That was the hardest part of taking the challenges off of my sidebar because I still want to read the books. But they are still listed on my TBR list so I will get to them eventually.

Dar- I did really bad with challenges this year but it isn't going to stop me from joining more :) I just like to try and make the lists.

Naida- Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out this week. I'm planning on joining more challenges too but haven't had the time yet. I'm excited because it looks like there are some good ones out there.

  15. Oh no, no, it's freaky easy once you decide which you like. Takes all of one minute to do. I almost passed out that it was that easy. :)
