In this first novel by Reichs, Temperance aka Tempe, is a forensic anthropologist who examines bones. Tempe is called to the seen where some human bones have been found. The situation and way the bones are found reminds her of a previous encounter with bones that were discovered. The problem lies with trying to convince the police detectives working the case that there is a possible serial killer on the loose. Before Tempe knows it she and her family and friends are in danger themselves.
This was the first in the series and a great read find for me because I will definitely be continuing on with the series. I just love finding new to me authors. :) Tempe came across as a very down to earth character that as the reader I cared about. I felt for her and worried about her. There was a lot of technical language relating to forensic anthropology that was heavy in a few parts-but for the most part it enhanced rather than detracted from the story. Overall, good book and I enjoyed reading it.
Challenges: 1st in a Series Challenge, A-Z Challenge ("D" Title)
My Rating: 4 out of 5
Did you know that this series was actually turned into a show on Fox? The show is awesome; however, I haven't gotten around to reading any books yet. It stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz (Angel) as Tempe (aka Bones) and Booth. It was starting it's third season when the writer's strike started. It's back with new episodes on April 14th. So can't wait.
ReplyDeleteGood review; I read this book a couple of months ago. I was also a little overwhelmed by the medical terminology, but I kind of felt that it took away from the book. I got the rest of the books in the series from PBS, but haven't gotten around to the second one.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you haven't seen the tv show, Bones, I also can't wait and totally recommend it to you!!
I am going to add this author to my Spring Challenge. I keep saying I am going to read a book by her, but keep forgetting.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Jackie- I did know this show is on Fox but I haven't seen it yet. I've heard lots of good things about it so I'll have to take the time and watch soon.
ReplyDeleteTara- There were parts were the medical terminology was overwhelming..but there were other parts that I thought made the book seem (this may sound dumb)more authentic :) LOL!!
JKaye- I definitely recommend this author-I liked the book myself :)
